Toward Internationalization: UNO-BTVU 2+2 Degree Program in Computer Science
The University of New Orleans (UNO) and the Beijing Radio and Television University (BTVU) in China have signed an agreement to provide joint high-quality college education for high school graduates starting Fall 2009. This collaboration between the computer science programs of both universities offers a two-plus-two (2+2) joint undergraduate program wherein high school graduates enroll at BTVU’s School of Science, Technology and Management in Beijing, China for two years. Upon successfully completing the course of study there and achieving adequate English proficiency, these students will transfer the credit hours of their first two-years’ study to UNO and attend UNO for advanced computer science topics such as database, networking, operating systems and software engineering for another two years. Thus, after a total of four years, these students will be able to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science (BS in CS) granted by UNO. An intensive English program is also provided at UNO for students who need help in satisfying UNO’s English proficiency requirements.
This joint program will also allow Chinese students to pursue graduate degrees in Computer Science at UNO after completion of the 2+2 curriculum.
